This is for those of you who are curious about how I stay motivated to run a startup alongside a full time job.
Disclaimer: This article is not a prescription or recipe with guarantees. This is purely based on my experience. What works for me, may not work for you! But I'll be glad if you can takeaway something useful from here.
“My venture-Citta doesn't feel like work to me because it's my fun learning space where I get to grow, experiment, be creative, network and help people. Working towards it is as routine as sleeping, eating and breathing.”
Here's the catch though! Just because something doesn't feel like work doesn't mean it isn't work.
So how do I stay motivated, you ask?
The cause is very personal to me and it gives me a sense of purpose
The people I surround myself with, inspire me to push myself and to do better everyday
My Co-Founder and I complement each other in terms of skills, camaraderie and understanding
I have an incredible support system - my friends, my family, my team at Citta and Citta's allies
I use to-do lists, reminders and set weekly/daily goals that help me stay on track with all my commitments
THERAPY is an important part of my life that has helped me grow. It has helped me discover tools to manage my time, energy and emotions better.
I try my best to maintain work-life balance- chilling, catching up with people, learning new things and indulging in hobbies is also a very important part of my calendar. It keeps me sane and helps me de-stress which in turn prevents burnouts.
I enjoy being an entrepreneur
The fact that I need to make money and wish to learn the nuances of corporate life helps me stay motivated w.r.t my day job
The rest has worked out because of luck and privilege
